The show takes a leap of 8 years, Prerna, Anurag, Bajaj, Aparna and Komolika's destiny crosses again. Prerna returns to Mumbai with an eight-year-old Sneha who is the apple of her eye. Mr. Bajaj also adores the child. However Sneha doesn't know who her father is. She goes to a school where she befriends a girl Diya who is, in fact, Rakhi's daughter! Sneha soon goes to the Basu House with Diya where everyone there adores her. As she reveals her name to be Sneha Sharma, nobody guesses her to be Anurag's daughter. Anurag, who is depressed by his son's death even after 8 years has withdrawn into a shell but is soon won over by his daughter who resembles him in many ways. Diya and Sneha go to a summer camp, where parents are allowed, but as neither girls' mother can go, Anurag goes with them. Anurag bonds with Sneha who reminds him both of himself and the love of his life, Prerna. One day, he is shocked to learn that Sneha does not know who her father is. Very soon after that, Sneha misses her mother and wants her to come to the summer camp; Prerna agrees. She is shocked to find Anurag there and even more to see that her daughter knows him very well and adores him. Even Anurag is shocked to find out that the child he has grown to love is actually the proof of his wife's infidelity. Due to societal pressures and Sneha's increasing questions about her father's identity, Prerna decides to marry Mr. Bajaj. They get engaged. Later on, fate plays its cards again and Sneha is diagnosed with Leukemia. At this time, Anurag comes to know Sneha is his daughter and is stunned to know he didn't trust Prerna. He is heartbroken. Aparna gets jealous. The doctors are not able to find a bone marrow that will suit Sneha and in order to save her life they recommend Prerna to mother another child whose bone marrow will definitely save Sneha's life. In a practical move by Bajaj, Prerna, Anurag and Aparna, Anurag and Prerna come together to conceive another child. While Anurag and Prerna no longer wish to be together the pregnancy becomes a cause for insecurity to both Aparna and Mr. Bajaj. Anurag's concern towards Prerna, Sneha and the unborn child keeps bringing up misunderstandings in both the couple's lives. Sneha gets alright.
